Found in the deep sea’s of the ocean, lives the strange but awesome slug the Glaucus Atlanticus. Today we are going to talk about this awesome real life pokemon. This animal is called this because of all of the interesting ways it eats, attacks, and were it lives along with a description of its body now join me in my adventure to uncover the secrets of this real life pokemon.First of all let’s talk about the body. They tend to grow 5-8 CM. When fully extended it looks like they are alien Dragon flying through the water. That is why they are called pokemon. They have colorful tendras known as Cerata. (Cerata are dorsal and lateral outgrowths on the upper surfaces of the body of these nudibranchs.)They also have a gas sac that they use to float upside down in warm ocean currents. They are mostly blue and have 6 wings that they use to swim to eat things. The foot the bottom side of the blue dragon has either a blue or blue-white coloration whereas the dorsal surface is covered in a silver-greyish color. This coloration is an example of countershading,  they use this as a form of camouflage  They use this to hide from their main predators the seagulls and pelicans The blue dragon also is very fascinating when it comes to what it eats. It is actually a carnivore It feeds on other pelagic (which means they live in the open sea) creatures using its powerful sting to paralyze its prey. They are known to go after longer animals, like jellyfish and or octopus. They use a special ability where they take the electricity cell from other jellyfish to sting other jellyfish and eat them. But we are going to talk about that later These beautiful creatures live in a lot of places. It has been recorded from the east and south coasts of South Africa, European waters, the east coast of Australia and Mozambique. Glaucus atlanticus was recently found in the Humboldt Current ecosystem in Peru in 2013, and in Andhra Pradesh in India in 2012. But they are still super hard to find. They were first found in 1777. By captain cook while he was on his second voyage across the pacific ocean. They usually live in tropical climates in the sea. These pokemon like creatures also have a pokemon like move. The Glaucus Atlanticus is able to swallow the venomous nematocysts from siphonophores such as the jellyfish Portuguese Man o’ war, and store them in the extremities of its finger-like cerata. Picking up the animal can result in a painful attack, with symptoms similar to those caused by the Portuguese man o’ war. This creature also has a pokemon like move it is it’s sting. This sea slug stores stinging nematocysts from the cnidarian within its own tissues, which is additional protection from predation attempts, but a human picking up one of these sea slugs that has accidentally washed up on the beach may receive a very painful and potentially dangerous sting. This sea slug stores stinging nematocysts from the cnidarian within its own tissues, which is additional protection from predation attempts, but a human picking up one of these sea slugs that has accidentally washed up on the beach may receive a very painful and potentially dangerous sting. This is a very powerful sting that can pack a punch. As you can see this creature is very awesome. In case you haven’t been paying attention here is what we talked about briefly. This creature eats jellyfish and takes their stinging cells. We also learned about how they have 6 wings and they are usually 3 inches. We also learned about how they live in tropical seas and live towards the top of the ocean. Also how they were discovered in 1777. And about how they have a pokemon ike move. So watch out for this awesome creature the next time you are at the sea but make sure not to touch it.
